STEPS AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO CHANGING YOUR ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER

Stage 1: Choosing the new supplier

The process of changing the electricity supplier can only begin after the end customer has selected a new supplier. Any economic operator licensed to supply electricity on the territory of Romania can be chosen, without being restricted by a specific geographical area.

Step 2: Providing the necessary data

To conclude a new electricity supply contract, the end customer must provide the new supplier with the following essential information:

  • Address of the place of consumption;
  • Name of the current supplier;
  • Unique identification code of the measurement point(s) (written on the electricity bill);
  • Value of invoices due and unpaid by the date of notification;
  • Details regarding the absorbed power/quantities of electricity required;
  • Other relevant documents according to the regulations in force.

Stage 3: Conclusion of the new contract

Once the end customer and the new supplier have reached an agreement on the contractual terms, including the price of electricity, the supply contract is concluded. This contract will enter into force on the date of termination of the contract with the current supplier.

Step 4: Notify your current provider

The end customer is obliged to notify the current supplier of the termination of the supply contract at least 21 days before the termination date.

Stage 5: Steps to ensure network service

At the customer's request and based on the new supply contract, the new supplier is obliged to initiate the necessary steps to conclude network service contracts.
For small household and non-household customers, meter reading by the network operator (OR) is not mandatory on the day of the change of supplier, the self-read index by the customer being accepted. If the network operator suspects an irregularity in the communicated index or if it is not transmitted, the OR will determine the consumption either by direct reading or by estimation based on consumption history or an agreement concluded with the customer.
